Tribal Liaison

Mr. Richard L. Ackley completed his B.S. degree from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin and attended graduate school in Counseling and Management at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

He has over 30 years of experience, beginning in the late l960s with a position in the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO). Mr. Ackley's planning and tribal experiences are with the Midwest Tribes and he has worked with other tribes thoughout the United States and Canada. He is currently a consultant to Tribes on investment and planning issues.

Recent positions include adjunct instructor for the American Indian Studies Department at the University of Wisconsin in Green Bay in the Fall of 2001, Senior Planner II for the Oneida Tribe from l993-2000, and Planning Director for the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa from l989-93. Mr. Ackley is very active with the Indigenous Planners network, which promotes cooperations and sharing of information about Tribal Planning with other Tribes in Indian country. He is a firm believer in Tribal Government and Tribal Planning by Tribal members. He currently lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin. His current duties are Tribal Judge and Tribal Business planning.
