About the Hanwakan Center

Many people are behind the Hanwakan Center, all committed to furthering the understanding of prehistoric astronomy, while gathering traditions and stories which were born of mankind's interaction with the physical environment and his relationship between earth and sky. The Hanwakan Center will give these traditions and stories a voice once again, and connect them to the land from where they came. Preservation, protection, and study of our shared prehistoric and historic heritage is the goal of the Hanwakan Center.

Many national and international scholars, members of the Native American community, and numerous interested individuals have expressed their desire to be a part of this endeavor and share their traditions, stories, and work with others.
